Did you know that on average, 80% of utility and telecommunications bills contain errors or overcharges?

Q. How can that be? Why would I not be aware of this?
A. Utility and telephone companies make mistakes. Meters are read incorrectly, entries are keyed incorrectly, your account was set up wrong from the beginning, discounts are misapplied, and many other ways they over bill. They are also under no obligation to ensure that you are paying the lowest cost for your usage. It is your responsibility to ensure that your bills are accurate and cost efficient. Most businesses do not have the time or expertise to verify their bills for accuracy.

Q: What type of errors or overcharges do you find?
A: Our audit team does a line by line audit of each and every invoice as opposed to parameter audits. We look at each aspect from key punch, meter reading, demand, tax rates, tariffs, makeup charges, ratchets, and contracts, just to name a few. Without specific industry training on how to read these tariffs and codes, it is nearly impossible to verify the accuracy and cost effectiveness of your billing.

Q: If billing errors that represent refund opportunities are found, how far back can you go?
A: We must stay within your statute of limitations but that is typically 3 years. The errors and/or overcharges can add up fast, resulting in added income to your bottom line.

Q: How long does the audit process take?
A: The process takes, on average, 6 to 8 weeks to complete.

Q: What is required for this audit?
A. All audit work is done off-site. We require copies of your invoices and a signed letter of authorization, which allows us to question the utilities directly. If they should happen to contact you, please refer them to us. We also ask for a point of contact to assist us in any questions regarding your accounts.

Q. Are there any up-front fees or hidden charges for your services?
A: No. We are a contingency-fee based, professional cost-reduction company with the expertise to help your business realize the tremendous savings and/or refunds that can result from our auditing services. If we cannot find savings and/or refunds, we do not get paid!

Q: Are you going to make changes on our accounts?
A: No. UCA will provide to you in writing any changes that may be implemented regardless of the amount. You must sign off on any of our recommendations.
